Evia

On this beautiful island, detached from the Greek continent in the ancient times, one can find almost all characteristics of the greater Greek landscape. Beautiful sandy or rocky beaches, fertile green fields, rough and steep mountains, traditional villages, hamlets and ruins that mark Greece's more recent as well as ancient history.

The Evian landscape will astound and charm you with its rich variety, extensively covering the range of natural beauty, from the lower coastal areas on up to the imposing mountain peaks. The area offers plenty of natural attractions as well as sites of particular archaeological interest to the tourist. One finds the resort is ideal as a departure point for visits to Byzantine monasteries, ancient temples and coniferous and for trekking, walking in the countryside and for fishing.

Chalkis, the capital of the island, is nearby. Visitors can gaze in awe and wonder at the exceptional tidal phenomenon of Evripos. Here, too, are archaeological, medieval and folklore museums. The shopping centre of the city has something to offer for all interests.

  • Steni is situated in Central Evia. It offers green landscapes, running waters and the mountain of Dirfis with its hospitable shelter beneath a forest of chestnut trees.
  • Stira has its own "Acropolis" and the "dragon houses".
  • Karistos is known for its ancient and medieval castles, the cave of Aghia Triada (The Holy Trinity) and its beautiful villages.
  • Marmari is also picturesque with the islands of Petali.
  • Edipsos with its natural spa water sources.
